The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) American Lung Association Airway Clinical Research Center (ACRC - John Fahy, MD Director, Stephen Lazarus, MD and Prescott Woodruff, MD, Associate Directors) is a customized space renovated in 2007 specifically to support clinical research on airway disease—including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis and acute bronchitis. It is located on the 13th floor of the UCSF Medical Center and is adjacent to and shares a waiting room with the Adult Pulmonary Function (PF) Lab.

Dr. Lazarus is Associate Director of both and facilitates use of Adult PF Lab resources when required for asthma or COPD clinical research studies. These facilities support multiple concurrent clinical trials funded by grants and collaborative agreements with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Department of Defense and research grants from industry.
